The Agronomist's House, constructed in 1875, stands as a magnificent and historically significant building originally intended to house the residence of the agronomist. This role encompassed deputy directorship responsibilities at the prison, as well as overseeing the planning of crops and livestock for the penal agricultural colony. The project comprised the restoration of the building and the establishment of an eco-museum dedicated to themes of agricultural biodiversity on the island, and the natural resources of the extraordinary environment that defines the Protected Area both on land and at sea. The museum itinerary was designed as an immersive and interactive experience using multimedia tables, virtual projections, bird watching experiences, tactile panels, braille writing and audio-visual supports that accompany the blind visitor in enjoying the experience so as to guarantee a modern and accessible usability. All the framework and the architectural and plastic-decorative stone elements have been preserved with cleaning, consolidation and suitable protective treatments, bringing the building back to its original colours and splendours. The building has been adapted and secured to ensure integral and safe usability.
